The actions should be uncomplicated and innocent. You do not want to seem desperate.

If you seem needy, they are surely going to head for the hills. Of course it happens very easily that you ponder about the past and all the mistakes you might have made and suddenly feel the urge to apologize to make things right. You most likely have already talked about those things with your ex. Bringing them up again, even to apologize just gives them new life. Bygones are bygones. If you are at peace with yourself, naturally you will have a more peaceful relationship with your partner.

You need to believe it in your mind that the relationship is done and begin the healing process. You can’t go back in time, even though you wish you could, so let go and move on! Put your energy and emotions and focus on what is going on now.

When you do make contact, there should be no discussion of the breakup or even of your past relationship. Focus on what is happening today instead of the past. When communication is easy, free, and feels comfortable, there is a good chance that your former lover may decide to be less former and more lover. If your ex is not interested in talking, he/she may need more time and space. Getting back with your ex could take time. Patience now really is a virtue.

Backing off, giving yourself and your ex space will allow you to grow as an individual and put healthy space between what was wrong with your relationship in the first place. You will be more likely to be missed if you are doing well and confident. This is the start of how to get your ex back!
